Our Story
Generations of Golden Fries & Family Flair
Legacy of the Secret Fry Recipe
In 1944, Gaetan Verdun parked his humble chip stand on Main Street and quickly became the town’s Friday‑night ritual: movie at the Garry Theatre, then “chip and coke” under the glow of his smile. After Gaetan’s passing, his daughter Hélène and her husband Claude Levac kept the fry dreams alive—bringing lunch to the Carnation Plant by day and supper back downtown by night.
In 1997, Marc & Anne Lecompte took the reins, unveiling the beloved “Gaetan Fry Guy” logo by Gisele Sauvé. Then in 2003, Terry & Manon Sauvé—and today Manon Menard Montone—continued the family tradition, expanding to multiple Seaway Valley locations and sponsoring countless local events. Since 2019, Manon and her husband, David Montone, have proudly served Alexandria from our long‑standing Main Street spot, alongside our iconic team members “the two Mikes.”
